Progress on minimal hypersurfaces with free boundary

Abstract: Minimal surfaces with free boundary are natural critical points of the area functional in compact smooth manifolds with boundary. I will start with my joint work with Martin Li, where we obtained a general existence theory for minimal surfaces with free boundary using the min-max method. Then I will discuss some questions and recent progresses in this field.
