Borderline Sobolev inequalities after Bourgain-Brezis and applications

Sagun Chanillo: Rutgers University

Location:  Hill 705
Date & time: Tuesday, 14 February 2017 at 1:40PM - 1:41PM

About 15 years ago, Bourgain and Brezis discovered astonishing Sobolev style inequalities at the end-point where the classical Sobolev embeddingtheorem fails. In this talk we will extend these inequalities to Riemannian symmetricspaces of non-compact type of any rank and also present applications to Strichartzinequalities for wave and Schrodinger equations, incompressible Navier-Stokesflow in 2D with prescribed vorticity and the Maxwell equations for Electromagnetism. These results have been obtained with Jean Van Schaftingen and Po-lam Yung.
