This talk is an informal exploration of how AI, and in particular chatbots, might help us do mathematics. Rather than presenting definitive answers, the aim is to raise a few questions and share some personal experiences.

We begin by reflecting on what it means to “do mathematics,” and how conversational AI tools naturally lead to a kind of Socratic dialogue. We then look at a simple example of using AI in mathematical work, highlighting both its usefulness and its limitations.
