Stratifications and Higgs bundles

Abstract: This will be a survey talk about some old and more recent work on various stratifications that
appear in moduli spaces of Higgs bundles and holomorphic connections on a compact Riemann surface, possibly with punctures.
The original motivation for this study comes from conjectures in the physics literature.
