Mathematical Physics Seminar

Directions in Active Matter

Sriram Ramaswamy - Indian Institute of Science

Location:  Zoom
Date & time: Wednesday, 18 May 2022 at 10:45AM - 11:45AM

Abstract: Active matter is made of particles steadily supplied with free energy that they turn into work. Living matter is active, but so are many artificial energy-converting systems. After a brief introduction, my talk will present a tour of recent work with my students and colleagues. Topics covered will include flocks in fluids with and without inertia, and manifestations of non-mutual interactions. I will end with remarks about future directions.
