Stochastic six-vertex model and Hall-Littlewood positivity

Konstantin Matveev - Rutgers University

Location:  Hill Center Room 705
Date & time: Thursday, 30 March 2023 at 12:00PM - 1:00PM

Abstract: It starts with an empirical observation that a certain polynomial in a certain family of commuting operators with lots of positive and negative coefficients turns out to have all positive matrix elements. Why should it be so? This story features stochastic six-vertex models, symmetric functions, Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence, and Yang-Baxter equation.
