Soap films and capillarity theory: from collapsing to bulging and diffused interfaces

Francesco Maggi, The University of Texas at Austin

Location:  Hill Center Room 705
Date & time: Tuesday, 29 November 2022 at 1:40PM - 2:40PM

Abstract: We investigate the description of soap films by means of capillarity theory, discussing the interaction between various length scales, like the volume of the soap film, the size of the boundary wire frame and the thickness of the liquid/air phase transitiion. This talk is based on joint works with (different combinations of) Darren King, Michael Novack, Daniel Restrepo, Antonello Scardicchio, and Salvatore Stuvard.
