WIP Seminar

Deformation Bridling of Covariant Fields

Date & time: Wednesday, 05 February 2020 at 11:00AM - 12:00PM

Abstract: This talk is both a continuation of my previous WIP seminar, on generalizations of the Hamilton-Jacobi theory for covariant fields, and a precursor to my upcoming talk in the mathematical physics seminar, on covariant quantum theory of guided fields.  After recalling the deformation procedure that allows one to start with classical Hamilton-Jacobi theory of particle mechanics and arrive at Schroedinger's equation for the wave function that provides the quantum law of motion for those particles,  I will show how one can use a similar procedure to arrive at a quantum version of the classical scalar field theory, in which the evolution of the "bridled" field is determined by a wave function defined on a finite-dimensional field configuration space.  This is joint work with Maaneli Derakhshani and Michael Kiessling.
