Modularity Property of Theta Functions of Lattices

Forrest Thurman - Rutgers University

Location:  Hill 425
Date & time: Wednesday, 11 December 2019 at 10:30AM - 11:30AM

Abstract:   I will discuss how to use Poisson summation and simple properties of the Fourier transform to give the functional equation relating the theta function of a lattice and its dual lattice. We will see that theta functions of even unimodular lattices of dimension 8n are modular forms. Some examples will be given.
