Noncommutative Laurent Phenomenon: two examples

Volodia Retakh (Rutgers)

Location:  Hill 525
Date & time: Wednesday, 13 November 2019 at 2:00PM - 3:00PM

Abstract:  We discuss two examples when iterations of the noncommutative rational map are given by noncommutative Laurent polynomials. The first example is related to noncommutative triangulation of surfaces. The second example, which leads to a noncommutative version of the Catalan numbers, is related to solutions of determinant-like equations.

The talk is based on joint papers with A. Berenstein from U. of Oregon.
