Abstract: | The bunkbed conjecture is a natural statement in percolation theory. Vaguely speaking, it states that if we take a (specific type of) graph and randomly delete edges then two vertices are more likely to be connected (after the deletion) if their distance (in the original graph) is smaller. We will formalize this conjecture, pause to be disappointed by the fact that it isn't known whether or not the conjecture is always true, and then move on to discuss one of the few instances which we can handle. |
