A classical correlation inequality and a conjectural generalization

Abstract: The FKG inequality asserts that on a distributive lattice with a log-supermodular probability measure, any two increasing functions are positively correlated.  This is an incredibly useful result, with hundreds of applications in probability, combinatorics, and graph theory. In my talk I will explain all the terms used above and give a complete proof of the inequality. I will also describe a conjectural generalization to three or more functions that is wide open and seems rather hard. I will aim to make my talk understandable all the way through.
