A quantitative theory of dynamical systems

Abstract:  The geodesic flow on surfaces is a most natural class of dynamical systems (well motivated by Hamilton's variational principle in mechanics). I will talk about a new book of mine, written with coauthors, that gives a quantitative description of the individual orbits of the geodesic flow on a large class of flat surfaces.
