Möbius disjointness for some dynamical systems of controlled complexity

Abstract:  Sarnak's Möbius disjointness conjecture speculates that the Möbius sequence is disjoint to all topological dynamical systems of zero topological entropy. We will survey the recent developments in this area, and discuss several special classes of dynamical systems of controlled complexity that satisfy this conjecture.

Part of the talk is based on joint works with Wen Huang, Xiangdong Ye, and Guohua Zhang. No background knowledge in either dynamical systems or number theory will be assumed.

His research interests include homogeneous dynamical systems, classification of group actions, and number theory. Professor Wang got his Master degree from Ecole Polytechnique in 2006 and his PhD degree from Princeton University in 2011. His adviser was Elon Lindenstrauss. In 2011-2014 he was Gibbs assistant professor at Yale University.
