Equivariant Morse theory on singular spaces

Abstract: Morse theory is an old subject with many spectacular applications to different problems in Analysis, Geometry and Topology. One of the key results in the theory is the Main Theorem of Morse Theory, which describes the cell attachments corresponding to critical points of a Morse function. This has been generalised in many ways, and in this talk I will present a new version of this result which is adapted to a large class of functions on singular spaces. An important example is that of moment maps on varieties, and as part of this circle of ideas I will explain a related result classifying flow lines for the Yang-Mills-Higgs functional.
