Fall 2008 Multivariable Calculus Sections 13-15

This is the homepage for Math 251. Students are advised to check this page frequently.

General Information:

Lecturer: Prof. Jian Song (Prof. Enriquetta Carrington is filling in for his absence temporarily)

Teaching Assistant: Sushmita

Textbook: Calculus, Early Transcendentals by Jon Rogawski

This is a list of homework problems section-wise. Attempt the homework problems as soon as the section is covered in the lectures, you are required to turn in these attempts in the recitation. In the recitation, I'll address your questions from the homework and have a quiz at the end of the session. Homework won't be graded for correctness. I'll just check to see if you have attempted the problems. This is a measure to force you to write more math.

Quizzes

The next quiz is on Wednesday December 3rd and will cover sections 16.3-16.5 . This will be the last quiz of the semester.

Maple

In the first recitation on Sept 3rd, we did Maple lab 0. This will be the only in-class Maple lab. You are not required to turn in this work. However, there'll be four graded Maple labs in the semester. So, you are advised to familiarize yourself with Maple as much as possible by going through the worksheets handed out for lab 0. You can also access the sheets here - Maple Lab 0.
If you weren't present in the first class, print out the 4 sheets (playing with arithmetic, algebra, calculus and graphs) and then work through them. The page on 'General introduction' gives you instructions on how to start Maple on a windows machine in a Rutgers computer lab.
