INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA INFORMATION
Classroom:
1. Course will begin with either a short lecture or homework
2. Homework will be done on the board by classmates
3. Small groups will present homework
4. Each group will have:
a writer who puts the problem on the board
an "explainer" who will explain to the class
quality control (if three in a group) who will be responsible
for group
5. A short quiz will follow in each class
6. Only the best 15 quizzes will count so the more the better.
7. The class will continue after the quiz unless otherwise stated
Homework:
1. Homework will be assigned and collected each class.
2. Homework should be done in pencil with plenty of room
3. Please use one side of the page for homework
4. Problems must be in order and clearly marked.
5. Students should use a star to mark problems that are unclear
6. Students should not spend more than 80 minutes strait doing homework.
7. Students should not spend more than 10 minutes on a single problem.
8. Students should study at least 3 hours strait for each hourly exam.
Grade
Each hourly and class participate) count 20% of your final grade. The
final counts 40%. The letter grade equivalents are 90%=A, 80%=B, 70%=C,
60%=D for uncurved grades
You must receive a 50% or higher on the final to pass the course!
