People who can't do 2-dimensional integration will have very serious difficulties! Also, please be aware that one cannot receive credit for more than one of the courses 01:640:477, 01:198:206, 01:960:381, or 14:330:349.

TEXT: Ross, A First Course in Probability, Seventh Edition.

EXAMS AND GRADING: There will be 2 hourly exams (worth approximately 20% each) and a final exam (worth approximately 40%). Make-up exams will be given only in the case of well-documented illness or major emergency or (only with permission in advance) of a major outside commitment. Starred homework problems will be collected and graded. Your participation in class will also be taken into consideration.

CALCULATORS: Calculators cannot be used on exams! Exams will be closed-book: no books or notes of any sort are allowed.

HOMEWORK: Homework will be assigned at every lecture. It is extremely important that you do the homework assignments-as promptly as possible!

The course will cover most of Chapters 1-8.
