There will be 17 quizzes, each worth 10 points. Lowest 2 scores will be dropped.
There will be 5 homework assignments, worth about 30 points, on average.
No late work (be it quizzes, homework or exams) is accepted, unless for very good reason. By very good reason I understand either a note from the dean excusing your absence or some extraordinary circumstance about which you discuss with me beforehand. Please keep in mind that all Rutgers summer courses are identical, in terms of syllabus and expectations, to regular Fall/Spring courses. This means that in 6 weeks you are expected to acquire the same level of knowledge as in 14 weeks in a standard semester. Hence, the course will be moving extremly fast and you will be expected to do a huge amount of work on a daily basis. My rule of thumb here is " at least 2 x the time spent in class". This would mean at least 14 hours of individual work per week.
Rutgers Policy on Academic Integrity applies for all the work you submit in this course. I will point out what this means for your homework. You are allowed, even encouraged, to talk to your classmates, or work in groups, or come to my office hours and discuss your assignments.
One last thing to keep in mind: I do not grade what you think, I grade what you write. First consequence of this: your handwriting should be neat and easy to understand.
