Transportation and Directions

Rutgers University has several campuses in New Brunswick/Piscataway. The CoRe Building is on the Busch Campus in Piscataway. There is also the College Avenue Campus in New Brunswick and the Livingston Campus in Piscataway. Hence, a sign indicating an exit is for Rutgers may not take you where you want to go. Some useful things to know are that the Rutgers football stadium is on the Busch Campus very close to the CoRe Building and that a river separates New Brunswick from Piscataway.

The nearest airport is Newark Liberty Airport, about 40 minutes by car from the CoRe Building. From the airport, the cheapest way to get to Rutgers is to take the Airtrain to the Newark Airport train station, a NJ Transit train to New Brunswick (see www.njtransit.com for schedules), and then a taxi (or campus bus) to the CoRe Building. More expensive options are to take a taxi from the airport or to use the shuttle service offered by the State Shuttle (1-800-427-3207).

Note that New Jersey Transit trains stop at the New Brunswick train station. The closest station for Amtrak trains is at MetroPark, about a 25 minute car ride from the CoRe Buildling.

Parking for participants is available behind the CoRe Buildling. Visitors can only use Lots 59 and 67 without permits on 04/13/12 and Lots 60a, 60b, and 64 without permits on 04/14/12. Participants who need transportation from the Holiday Inn to the CoRe Building should make arrangements with the front desk of the hotel when they arrive. Transportation to Rutgers-Busch Campus (CoRe Building) is normally provided from 8:00am - 6:00pm, but service can be requested after 6:00pm (e.g., to return to the hotel after the dinner on Friday).

Directions to the CoRe Building

FROM THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE: Take Exit 9 and proceed north (west) on New Jersey Route 18. It is recommended that you use either of the two leftmost lanes of Route 18. Follow Route 18 through New Brunswick and across the John A. Lynch Memorial Bridge. (Ignore the "George Street Rutgers University" exit.) Exit Route 18 at Campus Road (the sign also says Rutgers Stadium and Busch Campus). At the traffic circle, turn right onto Bartholomew Road. At the stop sign, turn left onto Brett Road. Follow Brett road until it vanishes in a maze of parking lots. The CoRE building is a large building adjacent to parking lot 64.

FROM INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 287: Take the exit marked "River Road, Bound Brook, Highland Park" (exit 9), following River Road east toward Highland Park. Continue on River Road past Colgate, past the traffic lights at Hoes Lane and Landing Lane, and go under the overpass for Route 18 (South). Make the next left (at the traffic light) onto Route 18 North. Take the first exit (the sign says Campus Road, Rutgers Stadium and Busch Campus). At the traffic circle, turn right onto Bartholomew Road. At the stop sign, turn left onto Brett Road. Follow Brett road until it vanishes in a maze of parking lots. Park as indicated below.

Parking: Park in lot 59 (near the Busch dining hall) or 67 (on Bartholomew Road just past Brett Road) on Friday and in lots 60a, 60b (behind the School of Engineering), or 64 (just behind the CORE building) on Saturday.

Lunch on Friday

There are two lunch choices on the Busch Campus within a short walk of the CoRe Building, located next to each other. The first is the Busch Campus Center, which serves fast food (Chinese, deli sandwiches, pizza, Wendy's). The second is the Busch (Faculty) Dining Hall, which has a salad bar, a grill (hamburgers, chicken), a deli counter for sandwiches, several already prepared entrees each day, and several choices made to order.
