Theory of Functions of a Real Variable II, Math 502
This course continues the introduction to real analysis that was begun the previous semester in Math 501. The texts for the course is by G. Folland and analysis by Lieb and Loss. The focus of the course will be on material from Chapters 4 through 8 of Folland's text, and corresponding an complementary material, especially application, in Lieb and Loss. There will be weekly problem assignments. These will be graded, with the lowest grade dropped, and will account for 30 percent of the course grade. A midterm will account for another 30 percent, and a final exam the final 40 percent.

The first homework assignment is due Feb 6 in class.
