Math 251: Multivariable Calculus, Sections 16, 17, 18

Spring 2008

Attendance: I expect you to come to every recitation. In recitation I will be explaining homework problems, answering questions, and in general helping your understanding of the course. If you need to miss a recitation, please email me to let me know why. Emailing me before class rather than after is greatly preferred, but I realize that things like car trouble are unpredictable. Homeworks cannot be handed in late without first explaining your absence.

Homework: I will collect homework every week. A list of homework assignments is available on Dr. Irvine's syllabus, and a copy will be posted on my website.

Maple Assignments:There will be four Maple assignments. You are expected to complete each assignment on your own time - only the first recitation is spent in a computer lab. For each assignment each student receives individual data and an instruction sheet listing calculations you are to do using that data. Also for each assignment there is an associated background webpage explaining many of the commands you will need to use. My webpage will have links to the relevant webpages as the assignments are given.

Email policy: I have a few simple rules regarding email:

  1. I cannot be expected to check my email every hour on the hour. Do not wait until the last minute to email me, and please be patient for a response.
  2. Please use specific subject lines so I can better keep track of messages. "Math 251" and "Question" are not specific subject lines.
  3. Please use correct capitalization and grammar. Poorly written emails are answered last.

Grading: See Dr. Irvine's syllabus for how your performance in recitation affects your total grade.
