Exam 1 Solutions [Correction to Problem 1b, thanks to Haim Tawil] and Exam 2 Solutions. These were my grading guides, so you can ignore some of the extraneous comments. As per Dr. Shtelen's request, these will be were taken down December 17th.
- Before you ask: I do not have your final grades, nor will I be told your final grades. You should be able to check your final grade at my.rutgers.edu by next week.
Office Hours
Office Hours changed. For the remainder of the semester, I will hold Office Hours Tuesdays 1:00 - 3:00. I will not hold hours on Thursdays.
The other Math 251 TAs have agreed to see students from other sections, so perhaps one of them has more suitable office hours. See their hours here.
My office is Hill Center, room 605.
Homework
The list of all homework problems can be found here. If there is ever any conflict between my site and Shtelen's site, Shtelen's site is to be taken as correct.
Homework for Wednesday December 12th:
16.8
16.9
(See here for problem numbers)
As announced in class, answers copied from the Solutions Manual will receive no credit. Please write solutions in your own words.
Maple Assignments
If you want to work through Lab 0 some more, you can find the pages here. You can ignore the "TeX Source" links. Be sure you've worked through the "Playing with Graphs" section, as all of the labs will require you to graph something.
There are two sites which have been created to help you cope with common Maple issues:
Maple Lab 4 was assigned Wednesday, November 7th. It is due December 5th.
You might also find the Graphs Review Page helpful.
Study Sheets
I have created a few study sheets to help you mentally organize some course material and to supplement the lecture and recitation.
Links
There is already a wealth of information available online for this course. I strongly recommend checking out these resources.
- Professor Shtelen's 251 Website
- Math 251 Website. This is the official webpage for the course.
- L. Pudwell’s Maple Tips. Lara has been TA for 251 a few times and is an expert on the labs. She knows what mistakes you're going to make before you even make them.
- Lara's 251 Page. Here you'll find lots more links to sites that help visualize some of the more difficult concepts.
- Dr Z’s 251 Page Dr Zeilberger taught 251 last year. His exams are listed here. Also check out his handouts, which are very useful for getting to the heart of solving common Calc III exercises.
- Greenfield's 251 Course Diary: 1 2 3 4: Dr Greenfield taught this course last year. He keeps a course diary which summarizes each lecture and gives extra examples. Be advised, this is just once instance of the course so if two explanations of the same thing don't match up, don't worry. Most likely both are valid.
- Paul's Online Notes These may be helpful as well.
