Attendance: I expect you to come to every recitation. In recitation I will be explaining homework problems, answering questions, and in general helping your understanding of the course. If you need to miss a recitation, please email me to let me know why. Emailing me before class rather than after is vastly preferred, but I realize that things like car trouble are unpredictable. There is not an attendance grade per se, but quizzes and homeworks cannot be made up without first explaining your absence. Oversleeping is not an excusable absence.
Quizzes and Homework:
I will be in charge of administering and grading quizzes. I will also grade homeworks. There will not be a quiz every week, and I
will not be collecting every homework assignment. Something,
either a quiz or a homework, will be graded every
week. It will not be announced the week
before what will be graded, however, so you will need to come to each
recitation prepared to either hand in your homework or take a quiz.
Maple Assignments: There will be four Maple assignments. You are expected to complete each assignment
on your own time. For each assignment
you will each receive individual data and an instruction sheet listing
calculations you are to do using that data.
Also for each assignment there is an associated background webpage
explaining many of the commands you will need to use. My webpage will have links to the relevant
webpages as the assignments are given.
Email policy: I have a few simple rules regarding email:
Grading: Your recitation grade is 20% of the total grade. Half of the recitation grade (10% of the total course grade) comes from quizzes, a quarter is from homeworks, and the last quarter is from Maple assignments.
