Mathematics Department - The Undergraduate Mathematics Honors Track

The Undergraduate Mathematics Honors Track

Mathematics Undergraduate Program

The Honors Track is an option within the Mathematics Major. The honors track is designed to provide qualified students with an experience of mathematics that is richer, more rigorous, and more personal than is provided by the standard major. Many honors track students go on to graduate school in mathematics, or into a field making extensive use of mathematics, and the program will provide a firm foundation for both alternatives.

A formal application and approval by the faculty committee overseeing the option is required for participation in the honors track. The approval process is quite selective; normally only a small fraction of math majors will be in this option at any time.
