MSP Announcement



The National Science Foundation has awarded a five year grant to the "New Jersey Partnership for Excellence in Middle School Mathematics". This partnership involves Rutgers Mathematics faculty, Mathematics Education faculty, and at least seven partner school districts. The partnership will enroll 100-120 middle school mathematics teachers (in summer and academic year components) in a fellowship program that aims to develop deep mathematical content knowledge as well as pedagogical strategies to engage students in learning. The participating school districts include several facing extremely challenging socio-economic conditions. The Principal Investigator on this grant is Professor Amy Cohen from the Mathematics Department. Among the (4) co-PI's is Professor Michael Beals, also from the Mathematics Department. The budget of the grant is approximately $1 million annually.
